The Barbados Employers' Confederation (BEC) is the only membership based private
sector organization specializing in Industrial Relations and Human Resource
Management in Barbados. It was founded in 1956, therefore BEC has more
than 40 years experience in its field. The BEC is a registered trade union
of employers, which is administered by a Council that is headed by a President.
The Council and President are elected annually. The BEC represents Barbadian
employers on several boards and national committees. These include the
National Insurance Board, the National HIV/AIDS Commission, the Technical
Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council, and the National Advisory
Committee on Occupational Health and Safety (NACOSH).
We undertook a strategic planning exercise within recent times, and, as a
result have increased our cadre of skilled professionals to broaden our range or
services. The BEC has on board a staff of four qualified professionals,
specializing in Human Resource Management; Training and Development; Health and
Safety; Industrial Relations; and three administrative officers to ensure that
the needs of it's members are adequately met.
