About
the Scholarship

This award offered at the UWI is known as The
Barbados Employers' Confederation Scholarship. It is awarded to a Barbadian to read for a
degree majoring in Management which includes a course in Industrial Relations
at the
University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.
The Scholarship covers a period of up to three
(3) years. It is valued at BDS$1500.00 per annum which is to be used in meeting the student's
maintenance costs, books, fees and incidental expenses.
The Scholarship has been presented since 1964.
Requirements
The continuance of the Award shall be subject to reports of
good conduct and satisfactory academic progress to be submitted annually by the University
of the West Indies. A scholarship may be withdrawn at the discretion of the Council of the
Barbados Employers' Confederation if the student fails to maintain the necessary standard.
The availability of the Award shall be suitably advertised by
the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. The Award shall be made on the basis
of good academic performance. Applicants will be short-listed and interviewed for final
selection of the candidate for the Award, by the Council of the Barbados Employers'
Confederation on the recommendation of the University authorities. The decision of the
Council of the Barbados Employers' Confederation as to the qualification of an applicant
shall be final and binding on the applicant.

The Barbados Employers'
Confederation Scholarship for 2006-2007 has been awarded to Ms. Sasha Dawson.
Ms. Dawson a
third-year student of the University of the
West Indies
at Cave Hill Campus is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Management. She is a former student of the
St.
Michael
School
and Queen’s College.
The BEC's Scholarship is an annual award presented to students at the UWI Cave
Hill Campus pursuing a degree majoring in Management, which includes a course in
Industrial Relations.
