BEC Launch Revised Booklet
The Barbados Employers’ Confederation (BEC) recently launched its newest publication “Dealing with HIV& AIDS in the Workplace.”
This publication was launched at a press conference at the BEC’s Braemar Court Headquarters, and was addressed by BEC’s Executive Director, Tony Walcott along with former Industrial Relations Officer, Mrs. Charmaine Napoleon-Ramsay.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Tony Walcott stated that one of the reasons why people discriminate is because of the ignorance of how the disease is spread. He also informed that he hoped the publication would provide employers with guidance on how to handle employees who may be infected with HIV and AIDS .
The booklet, which is free of cost and available at the BEC’s office, was produced with the assistance of the Ministry of Labour. It is the revision of several booklets, of which the first was published in October 2004 with the assistance of the United States Department of Labor, the International Labour Organization and the Ministry of Labour.
