About the Scholarship 

This scholarship is known as the Barbados Employers' Confederation Scholarship. It is awarded to  Barbadian students at University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus,  who are  reading  for a degree majoring in Labour and Employment Relations. In the past it was offered to students who were pursuing a BSc in Management and required that the student read for a course in Industrial Relations while pursuing this degree.

The Scholarship covers a period of up to one  (1) year. It is valued at BDS$1500.00 per annum which is to be used in meeting the student's maintenance costs, books, fees and incidental expenses.

The Scholarship has been presented since 1964.

 Requirements

The continuance of the Award shall be subject to reports of good conduct and satisfactory academic progress to be submitted annually by the University of the West Indies. A scholarship may be withdrawn at the discretion of the Council of the Barbados Employers' Confederation if the student fails to maintain the necessary standard.

The availability of the Award shall be suitably advertised by the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. The Award shall be made on the basis of good academic performance. Applicants will be short-listed and interviewed for final selection of the candidate for the Award, by the Council of the Barbados Employers' Confederation on the recommendation of the University authorities. The decision of the Council of the Barbados Employers' Confederation as to the qualification of an applicant shall be final and binding on the applicant.

Scholarship Winner
The Barbados Employers' Confederation Scholarship for 2008-2009 has been awarded to Mr. Ashley Scott-Williams.

Mr. Ashley Scott-Williams is a 2nd-year student of the University of the West Indies at Cave Hill Campus, who is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Labour and Employment Relations.
